About Vietnam
Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing emitters in the world as manufacturing relocates from China. Coal power roughly tripled in the 2010s, but a feed-in tariff boom made Vietnam Southeast Asia's largest solar market almost overnight. A $15.5bn JETP was agreed in 2022, and the 2023 Power Development Plan 8 caps coal and prioritises offshore wind and LNG.
